Not every birthday cake has to reinvent the wheel. Often the easiest choice is a design that other Adelaide families already love. Below is a practical rundown of the birthday cake ideas we're asked for most right now, split into ideas for boys, ideas for girls and a handful of trending picks that suit everyone. Where a design is on our website, we've linked to it so you can check sizes, flavours and prices. Everything else can be made as a custom cake.

Popular Birthday Cake Ideas for Boys
1. Spiderman and Superhero Cake
Still one of the most requested designs for boys. A classic Spiderman cake covers most parties, or go up to two tiers if you want more presence on the table. For kids who love the whole team, the Avengers Themed Ice Cream Cake starts at A$79.95.
2. Super Mario and Gaming Cake
Bold primary colours and instantly recognisable characters make Super Mario an easy pick for a gaming party, and we can make it to order. If Minecraft is more their thing, the Minecraft Creeper Themed Cake starts at A$79.95 and the TNT Square Cake at A$99.95. Roblox and Sonic fans are covered too, with the Roblox Avatar Cake and the Sonic the Hedgehog Ice Cream Cake, both from A$79.95.
3. Dinosaur and T-Rex Cake
Reliable for younger birthdays especially. A baby dinosaur with a volcano suits a smaller family celebration, and a full two-tier T-Rex suits a bigger guest list. Both are made to order, so get in touch with your date.
4. Basketball Cake
Court styling and team colours are an easy match for a basketball-mad kid. Start with the Basketball Round Birthday Cake from A$69.95, or go bigger with the Dome Shaped Basketball Cake from A$119.95. We can also add the colours of their favourite team, from the Adelaide 36ers to the Golden State Warriors.
5. Football and Soccer Cake
Club colours usually do the heavy lifting here. Crows, Port, Adelaide United or a Premier League side can all be made to order, and the Round Soccer Ball Cake (from A$69.95) works just as well if the party isn't tied to one team.

Popular Birthday Cake Ideas for Girls
6. Frozen and Elsa Cake
Blue, white and silver carry most of the styling here, which makes it easy to match the rest of the party without much extra work. It can be made as a single cake or as a two-tier Elsa cake for a bigger guest list.
7. Hello Kitty and Sanrio Cake
Hello Kitty, Kuromi, Cinnamoroll and My Melody all live in this range, so check which character your daughter actually follows first. Hello Kitty leans pink, white and bows, Kuromi goes black, purple and pink, and Cinnamoroll pairs with soft blue and white.
- Hello Kitty Tall with Balloons Ice Cream Cake, from A$109.95
- Kuromi Hello Kitty Sanrio Cake, from A$79.95
- Cinnamoroll Birthday Cake, from A$79.95
- Sanrio My Melody Character Cake, from A$69.95
8. Disney Princess and Unicorn Cake
A good option when the birthday girl doesn't have one favourite princess. Crowns, pastel tones and a bit of sparkle cover the whole fairytale theme. For a touch of magic, try the Unicorn Cake from A$79.95 or the Unicorn Heart Cake from A$99.95.
9. Mermaid Cake
A nice change from the usual princess or Frozen requests, and it pairs naturally with shell and starfish decorations if you're planning a beach or pool party. Ask us about a custom mermaid cake.
Trending Picks That Work for Boys and Girls
10. K-Pop Demon Hunters Cake
The most requested theme across the board right now, whoever is turning a year older. It can be made as a tall single-tier cake or a two-tier cake. Contact us to order.
11. Labubu Cake
The character does most of the work here, which makes it a safe pick for a party where a few Labubu figurines are already part of the decorations. A tall pink two-tier Labubu design is a showstopper, and we can make it to order.
12. Pokémon and Pikachu Cake
Pikachu tends to be the safest Pokémon to build a cake around, and the yellow, red and black palette photographs well. See the Pikachu Cake from A$79.95 or the Pokeball Round Cake from A$69.95.
13. Number or Alphabet Cake
A solid pick when the birthday child doesn't have one obvious theme yet, or for a first or second birthday where the age is the main event. Start with the Number 1 Cake or the First Birthday with Balloons Ice Cream Cake.
14. Fully Personalised Cake
Can't settle on one theme, or your child's interests don't fit a standard design? A custom cake lets you combine a favourite colour, hobby or character into one design. Send us your inspiration photo through our contact form and our team will get back to you.
